How does Lansinoh® HPA® Lanolin work?
Breastfeeding is a learnt skill. If you experience nipple soreness beyond a slight tenderness when your baby latches on you may need to make some adjustments so you can be comfortable and enjoy breastfeeding your baby. Uncomfortable attachment of the baby at the breast when feeding is often the cause of sore nipples – a temporary but painful condition.
Things will improve as you establish positioning and latch-on technique but in the meantime, Lansinoh HPA®Lanolin can provide soothing relief to enable you to breastfeed comfortably. The application of our Lansinoh nipple cream provides the perfect moist wound healing environment. Moist wound healing involves retaining the moisture already present in areolar skin, by applying a moisture barrier cream to the injured site. Internal moisture, retained within the skin, will return the skin to its normal healthy state, supple and soft rather than brittle and dry. When cracked tissue is rehydrated in this way from within, it will heal without the formation of a scab or crust.

Is Lansinoh Lanolin safe for my baby?
Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin does not need to be removed before breastfeeding and is the purest, safest nipple cream available. Unlike other lanolins, we achieve this quality by using a unique refining process to selectively filter out colour and odour forming impurities. This process, performed at low temperatures without any bleaching, is what makes our product the best nursing cream. Lansinoh nipple cream is gentle and 100% natural. Lansinoh contains no added water, no chemicals, and no perfume. Lansinoh’s lanolin nipple cream is 100% pure, hypoallergenic HPA® lanolin and has:
- No smell
- No taste
- No preservatives
- No antioxidants or other additives

Are your bags reusable?
Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags are designed for one-time use only. Once you use Lansinoh milk storage bags we strongly advise you to throw them away as they are not meant to be reused.
-
How do I thaw my milk if frozen in your bags?
When thawing your milk in Lansinoh milk storage bags it is important to handle it as gently as possible to preserve all the valuable nutrients. If the bags have been stored flat they will take less time to thaw. Breastmilk frozen in our bags can be thawed in the refrigerator or at room temperature. You may also place the sealed bag in a bowl of warm tap water but never use extremely hot or boiling water. Even though these are the best milk storage bags you can find, they are not heat resistant.
-
Can I microwave my milk while it is in your bags?
No, microwaving is never recommended for breastmilk as it destroys valuable nutrients and vitamins in the breastmilk. Additionally, it can create dangerous “hot spots” that could burn your baby when feeding. Our breast milk storage bags should never be put into a microwave as care about the well-being of your baby.

Why are your pads so absorbent? What is polymer?
The effectiveness of Lansinoh’s nursing pads lies in the construction of the product and the materials used in the production process. Through a unique process using heat and air, paper pulp is converted to “fluffy pulp”, which is then combined with a super absorbent polymer in the form of a powder. This mixture is sandwiched between layers of paper tissue. A piece of non-woven fabric is then placed over the tissue to provide a stay-dry lining. This lining draws breastmilk and moisture away from the skin and into the core of the pad where it is absorbed by the superabsorbent polymer, which turns into a gel.
The layers of tissue surrounding the polymer further ensure that the moisture is locked within the core of the paper pulp and polymer. This unique action keeps both the mother’s skin and her clothing dry.
-
Why do you individually wrap each nursing pad? Isn’t that bad for the environment?
We individually wrap each disposable breast pads because it keeps each pad clean and hygienic and allows you to toss them in your bag without worry that they will not be sanitary when you use it.
-
There was gel on my breast when I went to feed my baby, what is it?
The reason Lansinoh’s disposable breast pads are so absorbent is that they contain a fine powder within the construction of the pad that is a super absorbent polymer (SAP). When the milk lets down and begins to flow, the powder turns into a gel, which is the action that is keeping you dry. If you notice gel on your breast, it probably means that this leaked from the pad onto your skin either because the pad was torn or ripped prior to your using it or because the pad was too saturated with milk. This could happen after a particularly big letdown or after wearing the pad for many hours. One option is changing your pad more frequently if you think that could be the cause. Because our nursing pads are so absorbent, it may not seem as though you are leaking a lot of milk but this is sometimes the case.
Or, it could be the case that the pad was torn or slightly ripped and the polymer gel could have gotten onto your skin.
-
Are these recyclable?
While there are components in the pads that are recyclable, the intact pad is not recyclable. We are working towards using more recyclable products. At Lansinoh, we aim to not only provide top notch mother care products in Malaysia but also worldwide. Our disposable breast pads, breastfeeding nipple shield and lanolin nipple cream are all created to ease your breastfeeding journey and we will also work towards making them environmentally friendly.
-
Why are the disposable nursing pads so big?
The unique shape is to allow for full coverage for maximum discretion under clothing. Also, the wider area allows for more absorption as the Super Absorbent Polymer is spread over the entire surface of the pad. This is why our pads are the best zero leak pads in Malaysia. With full coverage and being super absorbent, our nursing pads allow new mothers to go through their routines without having to worry about the leakage of their breast milk.
-
Can I sleep with the pads in?
Yes, many mothers find our nursing pads very absorbent, especially at night. We recommend changing the pads during the night if they become saturated. Also, be reminded that it is always best to pump out your milk before going to bed, we recommend that you pump it into our breastmilk storage bags as you can easily store them in your fridge or freezer. Lansinoh provides the best milk storage bags that if used correctly would not allow your milk to leak out.
-
Are they made of plastic?
The backing of the pad is the tissue that has a thin layer of laminate in it. In order for the disposable breast pads to keep wetness in, this very thin layer of laminate must be used; otherwise, the leaking milk would get soaked in and soak out the back of the pad.
